All this talk about planning for graduation in your short term rental got us curious about the Airbnb markets in college towns! We spent some time perusing the listings in a few of our favorite college towns to see what folks are doing, and few special listings definitely caught our attention enough to round ’em up here to share! Here’s our top 5 finds:

Athens, Ga – (Small House Walkable Downtown) This is a cute little ADU on the host’s property that’s walkable to the University of Georgia campus and downtown Athens. It’s a great example of using extra space on a large lot to build out a short term rental property for extra flexible income and space.

Chapel Hill, NC – (Lounge at a Fresh Mill House in Walkable Downtown Carrboro) – This super stylish Airbnb is in Carrboro, NC, just a few miles from UNC-Chapel Hill campus, conveniently located along a free bus line that will take visitors to the University. This property owner is taking advantage of the AirBnB Plus program – and their design, at least as far as we can tell from the pictures, is well deserving of that qualification.

Charlottesville, VA (DOWNTOWN studio, walk to corner/downtown mall/UVA) – You know my favorite color is shiny and this AirBnB is a shiny metal building. I’m intrigued. This spot is close to campus and everything else in Charlottesville.

Columbia, SC (Contemporary Loft in a Historic Vibrant Venue) – We love this historic building in downtown within walking distance to University of South Carolina’s campus. There are some unique spaces and great art! The reviews show an attention to detail by the host. We’d stay here!

Missoula, MT (Charming, centrally located 1930s boxcar house) – This spot is cute and not too far from the University of Montana. Plus, it used to be a train car! How cool is that?! It has a nice sense of style while still feeling homey and comfortable.
