Wow! Amy and I had a live adventure, and I think we are both feeling super inspired. It involved crossing Amy’s work as a marketing guru for nonprofits, my project management work, and our short term rental consulting biz as we used a GORGEOUS airbnb right here in Durham for a photo shoot. (Sign up for our newsletter to learn more about optimizing your short term rental for photo short term rentals in an article Amy is working on for next weekend). Not gonna lie, we both had trepidation as this was the first event either of us participated in during the pandemic, but it helped that this home is super clean and light and airy.
Here are the little details that the host, Karen, got at the bungalow she calls Chez Nous oh so right!
Color!

Yellow door– This cheery color says hello and acts as a calling card

Lovely gray walls–This simple color is used throughout the house and weaves all of the rooms together, it’s a cool grey, but not icy

Terracotta sofa–these throw back to mid century modern, but are of the moment
Painted headboards–Super clever way to create a space, while it’s a low budget solution, the use of metallic paint elevates it
Art!
This place is full of great and varied art, much of it by African and African-American artist, which creates a united theme.

Other little details that say the host is glad you are here!

Say hello!–such a nice way to welcome your guests in a small but sweet (and shiny way)

Excellent use of a label maker. Not too much, and in just the right places — see our article on virtues of the Brother P-Touch label maker

Hooks and hangers–This is right by the back door and is a stylish place to hang your stuff when you come in the door, bonus points for the umbrella
